The Crazy Wisdom Interview with Dr. Amy Saunders on Integrative Medicine and Her Life’s Journey

Dr. Amy Saunders is one of the leading integrative medicine doctors in the area. We had profiled her ten years ago, and we wanted to check back in with her, and see how she had viewed Covid, and hear her current points of view on her medical practice and providing integrative care. We also were hoping to talk with her about the influences which shaped her becoming the attuned, committed and deeply caring physician that she is known to be.

Linda Diane Feldt, Beloved Ann Arbor Healer, the Very Embodiment of Crazy Wisdom in the Community

The death of Linda Diane Feldt, at 62, on November 17th came as a shock to Ann Arbor’s holistic subcultures. There was an immediate outpouring on Facebook of heartsickness and grief, a sense of being stunned that someone so integral, so key, could be gone in a flash. For those who didn’t know her, or never came across her, it is hard to put into words the depth and range of her presence and her impact. We have had a holistic alternative healer/genius in our midst, for decades, and we all knew she was special, but took for granted that she would always be here, so no need to pay extra special attention to her gifts, to her very existence in our community. Though, as she said often in recent times, take nothing for granted.

The Crazy Wisdom Community Journal A 25 Year Journey

2020 marks 25 years that The Crazy Wisdom Community Journal has been in print. What an exciting and celebratory journey! What started out as a thin black-and-white publication focusing on holistically-oriented events in the area has grown into a 120+ page full-color regional magazine with glossy covers, and a vibrant freelance staff of writers, photographers, editors, illustrators, page designers, distribution helpers, calendar proofers, and ad salespeople.

The Arrival of Consciousness Science at the University of Michigan Medical School

The Center for Consciousness Science at the U-M Medical School was inaugurated in June 2014 by its Founder and Executive Director, Dr. George Mashour. That was around the same time that Dr. Tarik Bel-Bahar arrived in Ann Arbor. We were approached by Bel-Bahar in mid-2015, who suggested that CCS’s mission and activities might be ripe for a story in the CW Journal. We agreed. So what follows is an interview with Dr. Bel-Bahar, about the Center and its work. For long-time Crazy Wisdom Journal readers, this is a “must-read” about exciting work on the frontiers of consciousness research being done right here in Ann Arbor, right at the University, in the Medical School, no less.

Mindfulness in Education Begins to Thrive — An Interview with School Psychologist Mary Spence

The definition of mindfulness provided by its founder, Jon Kabat-Zinn, includes three essential components: 1) Paying attention in the present moment, 2) On purpose and 3) Without judgment. I want mindfulness to survive its popularity because I believe that the practice of being mindful can remind us of who we really are, bring us back to our common humanity, and invite us to remain integrated in mind and body.
