Earlier this year I made my annual mammography visit to Trinity Health’s Women’s Health Center in Ypsilanti. On that particular morning, the sun beaming in the windows really lit up the healthy, beautiful plants at the entry. Inside the mammography suite, there are several beds of green Pothos plants with golden highlights, and every plant looks so vibrant and perfect that at first glance, you might think they are artificial. While I was waiting for my appointment, I realized that these lovely green beings were offering messages.
When Spirit Sings: A Conversation With The Cicada Queen
A few years ago, during a major cicada emergence, I was visiting a friend who lived out of town. As I said my goodbyes and walked to my car, I thought I could hear singing off in the distance. There were no buildings within a mile, no vehicles blasting music, and it wasn’t coming from my phone, so I pulled my car over to the side of the road and turned off the engine to listen.
Everything Has a Voice, Even Tattoos!
Recently I bought a book on tattoos at an estate sale, which I intended to sell on eBay. Back at home, I was looking through the book and suddenly heard: "Each tattoo has its own energy, as an expression of creativity." In The Company of Rain
Let's play with free association for a few minutes. What do you think of when you hear the word Rain? Sprinkle, pour, drizzle, washing, cleaning, clearing, replenishing, soothing, refreshing, nurturing, restoring, splashing, lakes, ponds, puddles, Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head, shower heads, floods, monsoons, deserts, rain forests, aquifers, mud slides.
This list reminds us that no matter who you are, or where you live, or what you do for a living, RAIN MATTERS. Rain—and its absence—has been hugely important to humans from the very beginning. And our spiritual, emotional, and physical relationship with rain goes far beyond scientific facts and figures.
Squirrels: Beyond the Cute
Squirrels. They're everywhere. They're so common that you kind of block them out after a while. Then one day you're driving along minding your own business, and suddenly one of the furry hoodlums sprints across the road right in front of your car. It's almost like he was actually waiting for your car so he could give you a heart attack as you desperately try to avoid squashing him without causing an accident! What was that little maniac thinking, anyway?
Prepare to be amazed.
